New direction

Since the Autumn of 2017, my work has taken a new direction - for the time being I have retired my camera and am concentrating on painting and other media for a new series that I expect to be working on for some time.   Not my body, not my mind is an exploration of how it feels to be me - you can see the first pieces in this series at Jack House Gallery, Old Portsmouth in April 2018.     See my blog for a longer description of the work.

ArtSpace Exhibition at Lakeside Northharbour

I am very pleased to be showing three of my new series “The Universe Within” at Lakeside, Northharbour, Portsmouth from May to October 2017.   I’ve had a lot of fun experimenting with new styles in order to recreate what I see when I close my eyes! More info >>

New Year 2017…

Absolutely thrilled to have been chosen to exhibit at the MA & Postgraduate show at the Atkinson Gallery, Somerset in February and March.  John Barable New Media Award June 2016:  I was very happy to hear that a digital piece for my final exhibition called “Being Present” was awarded a special commendation for the above award by Portsmouth University.   The innovative interactive work will be on show at the MA Fine Art exhibition in August 2016.

Portsmouth Creative Census

June 2016:  I was thrilled to be featured in the first Creative Census in Portsmouth - find out more on their website.
Reflecting Gosport May 2015 - I launched the project I have been working on since the beginning of 2015 - my series Reflecting Gosport - a series of street photography and abstract mindful photographs of Gosport, Hampshire - an amazing maritime town on Portsmouth Harbour and the Solent.

A year in the life of a beach

Many years ago in 2003 I did a photographic project taking as many pictures of Hill Head beach as I could in a full calendar year.   The camera I had then was not as sophisticated as modern digital ones and I had to reduce the quality of the images a fair bit as we were all on dial up connections then, but it still looks reasonable and is hosted on another one of my sites.    Hill Head - a year in the life of a beach.

MA Interim Exhibition May 2016 - exhibited nine photographs in a series called “Do not crush the daisy” - a series of found signs that seek to control us with negative emotional messages. Eldon Building, University of Portsmouth. Portsmouth Guildhall Solo Exhibition In October 2015 I was selected to exhibit at Portsmouth Guildhall for three months over the winter of 2015/6.   This incredible opportunity is a joint venture between the Guildhall and the University of Portsmouth.   I was excited and honoured to be showing eighteen of my monochrome street photographs which show the shadowy and reflective journey between the Guildhall and the Eldon Building, the home of the creative arts at the University.   Find out more >>
